Indian Army Chief visits Pashupatinath temple donning a Dhaka Topi
Kathmandu. Visiting Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited the Pashupatinath temple donning a Dhaka Topi. Dressed in a civilian outfit, he also viewed the Arati at the premises. As per reports, he also visited the Kumari Temple located in Hanumandhoka.
The Pashupatinath temple has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The daily ritual in the temple is being carried out by the main priest. As per the protocol developed by the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), no one has been granted permission to visit and pay obeisance at the temple.
In line with the PADT protocol, General Naravane paid his respects from outside of the temple premises. He also performed the Pashupatinath Arati at the Aryaghat. He visited Pashupatinath temple as per the schedule prepared by the Nepali Army. Similarly, he visited the Kumari Temple in Hanumandhoka, which has also remained closed in view of the pandemic, as per the protocol that has been put in place.
During his visit to both the temples, General Naravane wore a Dhaka Topi.
General Naravane arrived in Kathmandu today on a three-day visit. President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to confer the rank of honorary General of the Nepali Army on him tomorrow.
