NCP dispute: five secretariat members at Baluwatar to meet PM Oli

Kathmandu. Five senior leaders of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have reached Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence at Baluwatar. The five senior leaders of the party secretariat who had taken part on Friday’s discussion at the party office in Dhumbarahi have gone to meet and convince the party Chair and Prime Minister Oli at Baluwatar for the central secretariat meeting.

According to Baluwatar source, disgruntled chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, deputy chair Bam Dev Gautam and spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha have gone to Baluwatar with a letter addressed to the PM.

After the unofficial secretariat meeting at Dhumbarahi yesterday, the leaders have gone to meet party Chair and Prime Minister Oli to inform about their intention of calling a formal meeting of the secretariat under another Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, source imforms, adding, “The leaders will try to convince PM Oli to call the meeting of the secretariat. If the PM doesn’t consent, Prachanda has second thoughts of doing so himself.”

When the conflict within the party had culminated, party chair and Prime Minister Oli had said at a meeting in Dhumbarahi that the party had split unofficially and only the declaration had remained. He had also stated that he would not resign any time soon though demanded by the dissatisfied group as his resignation would create more problems in the nation. The dissatisfied group, on the other hand, is bent to force PM Oli out of the government.
