Muskan Khatun to be felicitated with the IWOC award

Kathmandu, March 5. Rights activist Muskan Khatun has been selected to win the International Woman of Courage Award for the year 2021.

She had been a victim of acid attack at the tender age of 15. Since then, she has been advocating for acid attack victims and stricter laws. With her initiation, she met PM Oli and a law was drafted against acid attacks and sale of chemicals.

She will be awarded at a virtual ceremony that shall be attended by US first lady Jill Biden and Secretary of State Tony Blinken. The ceremony shall take place on March 8.

The International Woman of the Year (IWOC) award recognizes women who have the courage and leadership qualities in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment. This is the 15th year of the award.
