Kathmandu, June 11. China passed new legislation on Thursday that bans the defamation of military personnel.

According to the law, no individual or organization may in any way slander or derogate the honor of servicemen, nor may they insult or slander the reputation of members of the armed forces.

The new law introduced by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress allows prosecutors to file public interest litigation in cases of defamation and infringement of rights that affect their official military performance and damages the societal interest.
