Kathmandu, October 28. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) on Thursday announced equal pay for both men and women cricket teams.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed the news through his Twitter handle. He wrote, “I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian Cricket.”

He further went on to reveal the payments of female players, which would be equal as to their male counterparts. He said, “The women cricketers will be paid the same match fee as their male counterparts. Test (INR 15 lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs).”

Moreover, New Zealand struck a deal earlier this year to give their male and female players an equal pay; while Australia is still working its way through it.
