Iran begins construction of new nuclear plant

Kathmandu, December 4. Iran has began the construction of a new nuclear plant in its province of Khuzestan.
The 300-megawatt Karoon nuclear power plant will install a pressurized light water reactor that uses 4-percent enriched uranium oxide as the fuel. Further, the construction that started Saturday had the presence of Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and some local officials.
According to Nour news agency, Iran is scheduled to spend US$ 1.5 to 2 billion and eight years to build the Karoon plant.
Eslami added that the construction has begun in “a high speed” and it will increase the share of nuclear energy.
