Kathmandu, February 28. Several colleges and universities together held a joint conference in Hetauda on Sunday. They issued a four-point declaration demanding University Grant Commission (UGC) to include them within the commission’s policies.

The Vice-Chancellor of Morang-based Manmohan Technological University Dr. Subashree Pokharel said that the universities and educational academies in the provinces are not covered by the UGC’s policy. “This has made it more difficult for the institutions to improve quality and performance”.

“Federal and provincial government should allocate budget for the institutions to run academic programs, carry out research and build infrastructures for technical and vocational education,” Pokharel urged the government to provide essential resources for the institutions to enhance the quality of education.

A declaration calls upon the institutions to initiate interaction with the federal government and UGC to form a province-level joint network.
