Over 1,70,000 students to vote in today’s Student Union election

Kathmandu, March 19. After 14 years of waiting, the Free Students Union (FSU) election is finally taking place today in the constituent and affiliated campuses of the Tribhuvan University (TU), including the Central Campus.

The TU officials have announced that the voting has begun at 8:00 am and continue until 4:00 pm. The voting will take place in “48 of 60 constituent campuses in the University, as well as 1,040 affiliated colleges across the country.”

The TU campuses hold FSU elections every two years, but this has not happened in the past 14 years. The TU officials have assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful election.

According to official announcement, the president, secretary, and treasurer positions of the Union, and 50 percent of the members, will be elected through direct elections, in which approximately 1,70,000 students are expected to vote. The vice president, joint secretary, and 50% of the members will be elected through the proportional system.
