Earthquake destroys 23 houses in Bichchhya of Bajura

Kathmandu, April 29. Last night’s earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale caused significant damage in Bichchhya of Himali Rural Municipality-2 in the Bajura district of far western Nepal.

The disaster has resulted in 23 houses being completely destroyed.

According to Raj Bahadur Bhandari, the Chief Administrative Officer of Himali Rural Municipality, the residences of six families, including Dhanjit Budha, Dantir Budha, Joblal Budha, Naule Budha, Dil Bahadur Budha, and Saurmal Rokaya, were among those completely destroyed.

Additionally, 17 other houses, including those belonging to Basu Rokaya, Surendra Budha, Duwalal Budha, Dev Bahadur Budha, Pancha Rokaya, Jaggi Bohara, Saimal Bohara, Surja Bohara, Jas Thapa, Bhayadhan Thapa, Purna Thapa, Kusum Khadka, Bachmal Rokaya, Kala Rokaya, Surja Khadka, and Gellal Khadka, have also been severely damaged.

The Chief District Officer, Pushkar Khadka, stated that the district administration is currently working with the Chief Administrative Officer and the rural municipality ward chairperson to assess the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake.
