Nepali Women’s Cricket Team Set to Compete in Women’s Asia Cup 2024
Kathmandu, Mar 24: Excitement is brewing as the Nepali women’s cricket team gears up to participate in the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup 2024. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently announced the details of the tournament, which is set to take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from July 19 to July 28, 2024.
This edition of the Women’s Asia Cup will feature eight participating countries, including powerhouse teams like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Additionally, the ACC has extended invitations to emerging cricketing nations such as UAE, Malaysia, Nepal, and Thailand, enhancing the inclusivity and diversity of the competition.
Nepal finds itself placed in Group A alongside cricketing giants India, Pakistan, and UAE. Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand. The format of the tournament will see teams competing in group stage matches, followed by semifinals and the grand finale of the Women’s Premier Cup 2024.
The ACC has emphasized the importance of inclusiveness and equality in cricket by ensuring that all women referees and umpires officiate the matches during the Women’s Asia Cup 2024.
The Nepali women’s cricket team is scheduled to kick off their campaign on July 19 against Pakistan, marking the opening day of the Asia Cup. Subsequently, they will face UAE on July 21 and India on July 23, showcasing their talent and determination on the international stage.
