Imran Khan’s Supporters Temporarily Suspend Protests in Pakistan
Kathmandu, Nov 28: Supporters of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan have temporarily halted their protests, which had been ongoing for several days demanding his release.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers had vowed to remain in Islamabad until Khan’s release. On Tuesday, protesters breached police barricades, prompting security forces to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The protests have resulted in six deaths, including four security personnel and two civilians. In a statement issued on Wednesday, PTI announced, “The protest has been temporarily called off due to the government’s brutality.”
The situation remains tense as PTI supporters await further developments regarding Khan’s detention.
