China Strongly Opposes New US Tariffs, Vows Countermeasures

Beijing, Feb 2: China has strongly condemned new tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, vowing to take countermeasures to protect its interests.
On Saturday, Trump announced an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports, escalating trade tensions. In response, China’s commerce ministry criticized Washington’s actions as “wrong practices” and expressed “extreme dissatisfaction and strong opposition.”
Beijing plans to file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization (WTO), arguing that the US tariffs violate international trade rules. The ministry warned that such tariffs harm global economic cooperation and urged the US to engage in fair dialogue.
China’s foreign ministry reiterated that “there are no winners in trade wars” and called for mutual respect and cooperation to resolve disputes.
