Political Leaders Agree to Fast-Track Ordinances in Federal Parliament

Kathmandu, Feb 15: Top leaders of political parties in the government have agreed to approve the recently issued ordinances in both houses of the federal parliament as soon as possible.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak announced the agreement to expedite the procedural work required for passing the ordinances. “The ordinance will move forward according to the agreement reached today. This issue will be resolved positively,” Lekhak told reporters after the meeting.

In response to questions, Lekhak confirmed that an agreement had also been reached with the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSP) and that discussions among all parties would begin soon to replace the ordinances.

The meeting also reviewed the effectiveness of the government and parliament’s work.

Leaders present at the meeting included Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Senior Vice President Ishwar Pokharel, NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahant Thakur, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairman Ranjita Shrestha, and Janamat Party Vice-Chairman Abdul Khan.
