Kathmandu, March 13: Pakistani troops successfully rescued more than 300 hostages from a passenger train hijacked by militants in Balochistan province.

An army spokesperson stated that 33 militants were killed in the operation, while the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) killed 21 civilian hostages and four military personnel before the rescue mission began. However, these figures are yet to be verified.

The train, carrying over 450 passengers, was attacked by the BLA in a remote border district of Balochistan on Tuesday afternoon. While many hostages have been freed, some militants reportedly fled, leaving several passengers stranded in a nearby hilly area.

Efforts are underway to locate the missing passengers, but the exact number remains unclear. The BLA, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by countries like the US and the UK, claimed responsibility for the attack and released a video showing the explosion on the train tracks before launching an ambush.
