Kathmandu, April 20: Ongoing demonstrations by the Federation of Nepal Teachers (FNTE) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have caused major disruptions to public life and traffic flow across the Kathmandu Valley, especially during office hours.

The protests, particularly along the Maitighar to Nayabaneshwor stretch, have created traffic congestion, forcing the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police to divert vehicles via alternative routes, said police spokesperson Deepak Giri.

Large gatherings and roadblocks in Maitighar, Babarmahal, and Nayabaneshwor, especially near the Bijulibazar Bridge, have led to long traffic jams. With the RPP staging protests alongside the teachers, managing vehicular movement has become increasingly complicated.

In response to growing tensions, the police have installed barriers and deployed additional security personnel in sensitive areas to prevent unwanted incidents.

Teachers have been on the streets for the past 19 days, demanding the immediate passage of the School Education Bill. The Home Ministry has issued a warning against the RPP for allegedly attempting to breach restricted zones, urging all parties to respect public safety and order.
