Nepal Police Club Wins MM Cup, Defeats Army by 24 Runs

Kathmandu, May 3: Nepal Police Club clinched the title of the third edition of the MM Cup ODI National Tournament by defeating defending champions Tribhuvan Army Club by 24 runs in the final held at Girija Prasad Koirala Cricket Ground, Biratnagar.
Chasing a target of 240 runs, Army was bowled out for 215 in 48 overs. Despite a solid start with 130 runs for the loss of just one wicket, the team collapsed after Himanshu Dutta (50 off 80 balls) was dismissed. Other notable contributions came from Nischal Chhetri (36), Imran Sheikh (24), and Naren Saud (18).
Shravan Yadav starred for the Police Club with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 63 runs in 10 overs. Chitra Bistle took 2 wickets, while Bipin Khatri and Sunil Daulyal claimed one each.
Earlier, Nepal Police Club posted 239 runs after losing the toss and being put to bat. Arun Airy top-scored with 64 runs, followed by captain Shankar Rana with 51. Their 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket proved crucial. Deepak Dumre (36), Shravan Yadav (32), and Avinash Karna (19) also contributed.
For Army, Durgesh Gupta, Naren Saud, and Tul Bahadur Thapa took 2 wickets each.
Police Club took home the MM Cup trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 400,000. Runners-up Tribhuvan Army Club received Rs 200,000.

A total of six teams participated in the week-long tournament.
