Trump playing golf on a shadow of a fighter plane
Kathmandu, January 23. A Twitter account linked to Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran has posted a threatening image as a call for an attack on Donald Trump. In the image, Trump appears to be playing golf at the tip of a shadow of a fighter plane.
The image was released with the caption “Revenge is certain,” originally written in Farsi. This was interpreted as a revenge for the 2019 airstrike conducted by the US.
Last year, the U.S had killed a powerful Iranian General, Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike. Trumps’ administration believed that the top military commander Soleimani was a key strategist behind the conflict against the US.
Twitter immediately banned the account “@khamenei_site” for violating its laws. While various media reports claim the account as fake, the Associated Press reported that the account was linked to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s website.
The same image had appeared on the website with a quote “Soleimani’s murderers and those who ordered his murder must face revenge. … Both the murderers and those who ordered it should know that revenge may come at any time.”
