Gunmen kill BJP leader in India-administered Kashmir
Kathmandu, June 3. Unidentified gunmen has killed BJP leader Rakesh Pandita at Tral belt in Pulwama, Kashmir on Wednesday.
The police said that the Pandita was a protected person with two PSOs were deployed for his security. He was also given secured accommodation in Srinagar. But, it is said that at the time of the incident, he was without any security as he denied for it; as he said that he was visiting his hometown.
A woman was also injured during the incident. She got a bullet injury on her leg and has been sent for Pulwama hospital for treatment.
J&K L-G Manoj Sinha said, “Saddened to hear about the terror attack on the Councillor Shri Rakesh Pandita at Tral, Pulwama. I strongly condemn the attack. My condolences to the bereaved family in this time of grief. Terrorists will never succeed in their nefarious designs, and those responsible for such heinous acts shall be brought to justice.”
Pandita had been elected to the municipal council in Tral unopposed in 2018 after the local polls were boycotted by the key regional parties.
The case has been registered by the police and investigation is underway.
