Nepal- Australia strong allies: Minister Badu

Kathmandu, February 15. Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk today paid a courtesy call on Dilendra Prasad Badu, Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

During the meeting held at Singha Durbar, matters relevant to modern challenges, including further building bilateral connections between Nepal and Australia were discussed.

According to Minister Badu’s Secretariat, Minister Badu expressed his gratitude to Australia for its assistance in Nepal’s COVID-19 response and other areas. Stating that relations between the two countries are strong, Minister Badu said that Nepal can learn from Australia in various sectors.

Australian ambassador Volk stated that Nepal was an old ally of Australia, and that Australia has been implementing numerous programs and projects in Nepal, including health, education, community forestry, and water resources.

Ambassador Volk further stated that the Australian government aided Nepal in promoting gender issues and the elimination of gender-based violence. She stated that Australia was prepared to explore more areas of cooperation with Nepal in the coming days.

The Australian envoy also pledged to take the lead in creating a conducive environment for Nepalese students in Australia, as  well as identifying common areas of judicial cooperation and expanding cooperation in this field. Australia is one of the most popular destinations for higher education for Nepali students.
