Kathmandu, April 2. Sri Lanka has imposed a curfew starting from Saturday until Monday, to stop public protests across the country. There is widespread public outrage against the Sri Lankan government as the country plunged into a major economic crisis.
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had declared state of emergency on Friday. Additionally, the government’s information head Mohan Samaranayake said the president declared curfew on Saturday through powers vested in the president.
Sri Lanka’s foreign debts lie at $ 7 billion for this year. Further, the country has suffered a lot of losses from the covid pandemic as well.
