Yarsa pickers find TARA AIR flight at the base of Manapathi mountain
Kathmandu, May 30. On Monday morning, a group of local Yarsagumba pickers spotted the wreckage of the missing Tara Air flight at Patake Lake in Thasang Rural Municipality.
Municipal chairperson Pradeep Gauchan informed reporters that Yarsa picker Sumit Gauchan had shared images of the shattered pieces of the flight. He further mentioned that the crash site was at the base of Manapathi Mountain.
Official confirmation of the information is still pending.
Meanwhile, a rescue team of about 100 security personnel is hiking to the Manapathi mountain. Last night, the team hiked from Kowang to Yakkharka. The operation could not be carried out at night due to bad weather. The team resumed their hike from Yakkharka on Monday morning.
A turboprop Twin Otter 9N-AET flight of Tara Air scheduled to fly from Pokhara to Jomsom went missing on Sunday. The plane was carrying 22 people, that included 16 Nepalis and 6 foreigners. The flight took off at 9:55 am and went contactless at 10:11 am.
At the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday evening, Aviation minister Prem Bahadur Ale informed that search operations have been carried out and three Nepali Army helicopters were on standby in Pokhara and Jomsom airports.
