Kathmandu, March 10. The construction work at Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, with a 102 megawatt capacity, is now almost finished.
According to the project officer, finishing up the project would take around four months. Work has already begun on security infrastructures, equipment installation at turbines, generators, and control rooms, and the tunnel is being lined with concrete.
In 2013, The Chilime Hydropower Company, a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority began the construction work of the 102 MW hydropower in Sindhupalchowk district. A financial loan of Rs 12.28 billion was provided by the Employees’ Provident Fund.
The hydropower project was scheduled to be completed in 2016. However, after missing multiple deadlines for nearly seven years, the project is finally on track to begin generating electricity. It is now calculated that the construction has cost more than 15 million Nepali rupees.
The hydropower plant is now expected to generate 542 million units of electricity per year, amounting to more than 2.8 billion rupees of revenue per year.
