Youth activists take a stand against corruption: Protest held at Maitighar Mandala
Kathmandu, May 14. On Saturday, a group of young activists gathered at Maitighar Mandala to protest against corruption, including the recent fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
The demonstrators held up signs with messages condemning corruption and demanding that corrupt politicians and public officials face legal consequences. It was reported that there was even a musical performance at Maitighar Mandala, which attracted the attention of local leaders.
On the same afternoon, a large-scale protest took place in Naxal, Kathmandu, calling for action against those involved in corruption and the recent scam.
Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma, and leaders from various political parties, as well as artists, intellectuals, and ordinary citizens, showed their support for the protestors.
During the demonstration, speakers stressed the need for a fair investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee scam and demanded that those responsible face legal consequences.
