Kathmandu, Aug 15: The ruling coalition in Kathmandu has reached a decision regarding the gold smuggling case. They have decided not to establish a high level commission for conducting an in-depth inquiry into the matter.

Rajendra Pandey, vice president the CPN United Socialist Party, shared that during a recent meeting of the alliance at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, it was agreed that the demand made by the UML (Unified Marxist-Leninist) party to create a high-level investigation commission cannot be granted. This decision stems from the ongoing efforts of state agencies to investigate the gold smuggling case.

Pandey explained that the reason behind this choice is that the current investigation by the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) is already underway. Thus, calling for a separate high-level inquiry could potentially interfere with the progress of the ongoing investigation.

The ruling coalition believes that allowing the CIB to continue its work without disruption is crucial to ensure the effectiveness and thoroughness of the inquiry into the gold smuggling case.
