Three Arrested in Bara with Narcotic Ganja Sent via International Parcel
Bara, Jan 3: In a successful operation, the police in Bara apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal transportation of narcotics, specifically ganja, sent as a parcel from abroad. The joint effort, led by the District Police Office Bara and the Narcotics Bureau Birganj, resulted in the arrest of Naimodin Mian (22), a resident of Siswawari Ward No. 1, Birganj Metropolitan City, Jitendra Shah Sonar (27), and Ka Krishna Saraf (22).
The arrests were made on Monday based on intelligence indicating that drugs were being imported from the United States via parcels. The trio was taken into custody at the District Post Office Bara premises while attempting to transport five packets of marijuana.
Dadhiram Neupane, the Police Spokesperson of District Police Office Bara, revealed that the suspects were found in possession of three packets inside a red tin box labeled “Popcorn Mix Trio,” one packet in a box marked “Wild Fashion Oats,” and another packet in a separate box labeled “Quick Watts.”
Neupane stated that the police have obtained a 5-day deadline from the Bara District Court for further investigation into the drug case against the arrested individuals. The trio is currently facing charges related to the illegal possession and transportation of marijuana.
The successful operation highlights the collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade, particularly in intercepting narcotics smuggled through international parcels. The authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to curb drug-related activities and maintain public safety in the region.
