Ratnechaur in Myagdi Gains Tourist Fame with Mustard Fields
Myagdi, Jan 16: Myagdi’s Beni Municipality-1, Ratnechaur, was relatively unknown until four or five years ago. However, in recent times, the mustard fields of Ratnechaur have become a tourist attraction, drawing visitors from various places. The transformation is attributed to the influence of social media, mass media, and promotional efforts, according to Tika Bahadur Mahat Ratnechaur, a former headmaster.
The picturesque landscape of Ratnechaur, set against the backdrop of the Dhaulagiri Himal, with Samthar Phant and Basti, has gained attention, especially during the mustard blossoming season. The unique aspect of Ratnechaur is the view of mountains on both sides of the black road amid blooming mustard fields.
Social media, in particular, has played a significant role in popularizing Ratnechaur. With technology becoming widespread, previously overlooked places like Ratnechaur are gaining recognition. Visitors are attracted by the stunning visuals and photos shared on social media platforms.
Jenisa Pun from Pokhara expressed that she visited Ratnechaur after being captivated by the images she saw online. Domestic tourists, ranging from children to the elderly, visit Ratnechaur, with an estimated daily influx of 200 to 500 visitors.
Ratnechaur, just a 15-minute drive from Beni and Baglung markets, has become a favored destination for tourists traveling through Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat, Kaski, and even Mustang. The surge in tourist interest has led to the establishment of hotels and restaurants in Fedi Bhuwane of Ratnechaur.
The recent addition of a 388-meter-long suspension bridge connecting Ratnechaur to Baglung has further enhanced its appeal as a tourist destination. Tek Bahadur Thapa, Ward President of Beni Municipality-1 Ratnechaur, revealed plans to develop Ratnechaur as a commercial and tourist hub, focusing on agricultural tourism.
“We have put forward a plan to make Ratnechaur a destination for agricultural tourism,” he stated, highlighting the potential for economic growth and tourism development in the region.
