Kathmandu, Feb 10: President Ram Chandra Poudel has expressed confidence that the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) will not succumb to pressure or influence in handling corruption cases. Speaking at the 34th foundation day of the CIAA, he emphasized the need to modernize investigation and prosecution methods to keep pace with evolving corruption tactics.
President Poudel highlighted how the excessive desire for power and wealth has led individuals to exploit systems for personal gain. He called for legal and institutional reforms in line with Nepal’s commitments under the International Convention on the Control of Corruption. He also urged government bodies to uphold good governance, transparency, and accountability, emphasizing that corruption cannot be eradicated without instilling ethical discipline.
He stressed the importance of preventing misuse of public funds and urged vigilance in large-scale government procurement. Additionally, he called on state bodies, the private sector, and citizens to actively contribute to building a corruption-free society.
During the event, President Poudel awarded outstanding CIAA employees. The ceremony was attended by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Rastriya Sabha Speaker Narayan Dahal, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Speaker, and other dignitaries.
