Kathmandu, April 22: The funeral of Pope Francis will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. local time, according to an official announcement from the Vatican.
The ceremony will take place in front of St. Peter’s Basilica, where the pope’s body will be brought at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. His remains will lie in state at the basilica, allowing the public to pay their final respects in the days leading up to the funeral.
Pope Francis is currently resting in the prayer house of the Santa Marta residence, where he had lived for the past 12 years since becoming pope. The Vatican has stated that preparations are underway for a solemn and respectful farewell.
