APF Wins Prachanda Cup National Women’s Volleyball Tournament

Kaski, June 14: The APF Club of Armed Police Force Nepal clinched the title of the Prachanda Cup National Women’s Volleyball Tournament by defeating Nepal Police Club in straight sets 3-0 in the final held at the Multipurpose Covered Hall, Pokhara Stadium.

APF avenged their earlier loss to Police in the opening match by dominating the final with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-18 (correction inferred from possible typo).

With the win, APF received a cash prize of Rs 6 lakh, while runners-up Nepal Police Club received Rs 3 lakh.

In the third-place match, Tip Top New Diamond Club beat Everest Volleyball Club with a convincing 25-8, 25-19, 25-11 victory and earned Rs 1 lakh.

Individual Awards:

  • Best Player: Niruta Thagunna (APF) – Rs 30,000
  • Best Setter: Jasna Mahato (APF)
  • Best Spiker: Usha Bhandari (Police)
  • Best Server: Srishti Khadki (APF)
  • Best Blocker: Sumitra Regmi (New Diamond)
  • Best Libero: Salina Shrestha (New Diamond)

Awards were distributed by former Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Shakti Bahadur Basnet, former Minister Satya Pahadi, Gandaki Province Assembly Member Resham Jugjali, and sports organizer Koiralal among others.

The event, organized by the Nepal Sports Academy, featured six teams and was held for the first time in the name of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Nepal and chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre).
