Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrims Stranded Due to Bridge Construction and Floods, TAN Urges Government Action

Kathmandu, Jul 12: The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) has raised concerns over difficulties faced by pilgrims traveling to Kailash Mansarovar due to construction work on the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge and flooding in Lehende Khola.
According to TAN General Secretary Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, the situation worsened on Tuesday morning after floods disrupted movement in the area, affecting Nepali and foreign pilgrims heading to Tibet through the Rasuwagadhi border.
Sherpa urged the government to take immediate diplomatic steps to allow passage through alternative checkpoints such as Tatopani, Korala, and Hilsa to ease the disruption.
TAN Chairman Sagar Pandey also called on the government to ensure a smooth visa process for pilgrims, especially as the Kailash Mansarovar travel season approaches. He appealed to the Chinese Embassy in Nepal to make visa issuance faster, easier, and more traveler-friendly for those currently stuck in Kathmandu.
TAN expressed condolences to those affected by the flooding and requested that the government prioritize search efforts for those reported missing.
