Kim Jong-un and Putin to Join China’s Military Parade

Kathmandu, Aug 28: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will travel to China in September to attend a major military parade, China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed. The event will also be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to reports from Chinese state media.
The parade will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the war with Japan, a conflict that remains central to China’s national memory and regional identity. Victory Day celebrations are traditionally used by Beijing to highlight its role in defeating Japanese forces during World War II, while also signaling strength to its neighbors and rivals.
China plans to showcase an extensive display of its latest military advancements during the event. State media reports say hundreds of tanks, advanced aircraft, and new anti-drone systems will be presented. This parade is expected to be the first time China’s newly structured army force is fully displayed in public.
The attendance of both Kim and Putin underscores growing ties between China, Russia, and North Korea at a time of heightened tensions with the West. Analysts say the presence of the three leaders will be closely watched as a sign of deepening cooperation among the countries.
