A private company in Nepal signs agreement to buy 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Kathmandu. Anmol Healthcare, a private company in Nepal has signed an agreement with Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company, Globe Biotech Ltd to buy 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Harunur Rashid, Chairman of Globe Biotech Ltd, revealed the name of the Nepali company during a press briefing regarding the deal. He also revealed that countries like Sri Lanka, Myanmar and others are also seeking procurement from their company. He commented that his company has signed another deal of 20 million vaccines but cannot disclose further details due to privacy concerns.

The Nepali ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Banshidhar Mishra after visiting the pharmaceutical company said, “The people of Nepal and even the Nepali government are very excited and pleased that our closest neighbor is developing the vaccine. We are also interested to run a trial for this vaccine in Nepal if we get the clearance from Bangladesh’s side.” He further added that, “Perhaps the government of Nepal will directly sign deals at a later date.”

Globe Biotech Ltd claimed that they were the first Bangladeshi company to generate a COVID-19 vaccine in July. They aim to bring the vaccine in the markets by January next year, if they are allowed to start their human trials of the vaccine soon.
