NRNA America goes against the center, issues membership defying NRNA-ICC directive
Washington DC. The National Coordination Coucil (NCC), America has refused to implement the instruction of Non-Resident Nepali Association International Coordination Council (NRNA-ICC). NCC America is distributing membership against the directive of NRNA-ICC.
President Sunil Shah admits that NRNA America is distributing new memberships charging membership fees. He says that NRNA America has its own policy as regards membership distribution and will adhere to its own rule at present until the new MIS system is implemented under the Smart NRNA project.
“We cannot follow the direction of the center currently. The organizations registered here have to run as per the local rules. We shall continue the old practice till MIS is implemented, that is till February,” President Shah said. He informed that he had convinced central President Kumar Panta and General Secretary Dr Hem Rraj Sharma. ICC has no complaints against NCC America, he claimed.
NRNA had earlier instructed its NCCs around the world not to carry membership registrations. The meeting of the International Executive Secretariat (IES) of NRNA had decided to stop the membership distribution and commanded all NCCs to implement its decision.
General Secretary Dr Hem Raj Sharma had issued a circular to all NCCs to halt the membership registrations till further notice as NRNA was planning to hold its special convention through online system and the MIS system being implemented for the Smart NRNA project was undergoing trial.
Giri Raj Joshi, central member of NRNA, who is in the USA, noted that NCC America must operate as per the direction of the center. He told DCNepal, “NCCs around the world have to comply with the decision and instruction of the center. Institutional rules have to be followed by all.”
President Shah has been accused of going against the center’s decision to prepare grounds for fraud and get the leadership of NRNA America in his hands again next time. His win in the latest election is also under controversy. He had received 2093 votes more than his opponent, all of which were from unverified voters. The ICC has formed a probe committee to investigate the case.
