Panchthar. Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has set up a border outpost (BOP) at Torifule of Yangbarak-1, Lampokhari in Panchthar District. The border outpost was inaugurated jointly by Lekh Nath Ghimire, chair of Yangbarak Rural Municipality and SSP Kamal Giri of APF Nepal.
Earlier, two BOPs had been established at Chiwabhanjyang and Phalelung of the same rural municipality.
During the inaugural program, SSP Giri told that the presence of the APF personnel at the border would enhance the feeling of security in the people.
National News Agency(RSS) quoted Chair of Yangbarak Rural Municipality Ghimire as saying that the establishment of BOPs would be instrumental in controlling the illegal and unauthorized activities sometimes carried from the Indian side. The Nepali area bordering with India in that region is important from the perspective of biodiversity and tourism, Chair Ghimire said. He expected the BOP to help in the conservation of plants, natural herbs and wildlife in the area.
The Panchthar District shares 44.8 km long border with India. After the establishment of BOPs in three different palces – Lampokhari, Chiwabhanjyang and Phalelung – Nepali security force has made its strong presence in the area bordering with India.
