Nepalis sent back from the western border point at Gadda Chowki
Kanchanpur. Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have returned Nepalis trying to enter India through the western border check point of Gadda Chowki on Saturday.
Earlier, Nepalis living and working in India were allowed to cross border on the basis of Adhar Card. This time, however, the Indian side closed the transit point without any prior notice, creating difficulties for the Nepalis heading to their destination as they had to return from the border.
Sub-inspector at the Area Police Office, Gadda Chowki, Bir Singh Mehata, informed that Nepalis could not cross the border as the Indian health team and immigration staff did not arrive for the necessary procedure, National New Agency (RSS) states. There had been no official information about the disruption, though.
Every day scores of Nepalis cross the transit point and go to India for daily wage job, health check-up and receiving pension even during the pandemic. 30 to 50 people returned from the border check point Saturday, says the police.
