Mysterious disease hits South India

Kathmandu. Hundreds of people have been diagnosed with a mysterious illness in Andhra Pradesh of India.

Media reports indicate that more than 200 patients had experienced a wide range of epilepsy like symptoms from nausea, anxiety, loss of consciousness and seizures. 

The unidentified disease was first detected on Saturday evening in the “Eluru” city of southern India. On Sunday, a 45-year-old Indian man died of similar symptoms while receiving treatment at the local hospital.

The patients have tested negative for the COVID-19 virus. The blood samples of the patients are also free from evidence of viral infections.

No contamination has been traced during the water examination of the affected areas of the ancient city famous for its hand-woven products. 

Andhra Pradesh, a southern state of India was badly hit by the Covid-19 infection with over 8 lakhs positive cases, third-highest count in India.
