‘Bharat Bandh’ today by protesting farmers in India

Kathmandu. Agitated by the new laws passed, farmers have been protesting for quite a few weeks in India. The movement has garnered international attention and has support from personalities from India and around the world.

While Mumbai’s Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) remain closed, the movement and selling of essential products such as milk and vegetables at a local level is continued. The union bank employees have supported the bandh, but all nationalized and private banks are open. Viren Shah of Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association said on Monday, “We support the farmers’ protest, but will not shut our shops on Tuesday for Bharat Bandh. We urge the Central government to open dialogue with the protesting farmers and resolve their demands.”

Buses, taxis and train services also remain unaffected by the bandh. The bandh issupported by 48 labor organizations, trade unions and social organizations.
