Mysterious disease in south India possibly caused by mosquito killer sprays
Kathmandu. Over 450 people have already been diagnosed with a mysterious illness in Andhra Pradesh of India. According to media reports, the unidentified disease was first detected on Saturday evening in Eluru, a city in South India.
Patients have been experiencing a wide range of epilepsy like symptoms from nausea, anxiety, loss of consciousness and seizures. So far, at least one death case has been reported.
Although the patients’ blood samples and CT scan reports are clean from viral infections, a recent preliminary analysis by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalagiri has indicated the disease to be a result of “neurotoxicity” caused by the Organochlorine pesticides that are mostly used in mosquito killer sprays.
