Nepali Congress meeting: ‘Dissolution of Parliament is unconstitutional’

Kathmandu, December 22. A meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee was organized on Tuesday. On the first day (today)  four leaders have spoken, all against KP Sharma Oli’s recent decision of dissolving the parliament.

According to sources, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba started the meeting with his initial views while senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, central members Mahesh Acharya and Dr. Narayan Khadka expressed their views thereafter.  The leaders blamed not only Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli but all leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for the dissolution of parliament.

President Deuba claimed the dissolution of the parliament to be unconstitutional. Speaking after him, senior leader Poudel said that the Nepali Congress should adhere to democratic values, not succumb to the greed of the government and that NC would protest against the decision. He also said that the NC should make its  position clear on the issue.

Party Joint General Secretary Dr. Prakash Saran Mahat stated that the meeting of the party’s central working committee is underway, adding that the party will formulate a firm stand on the dissolution of the parliament and decide upon the next strategy.

The Nepali Congress meeting will be held again on Wednesday.
