Kathmandu, December 27. The District Development Council elections was held earlier this week in Kashmir in which the ruling party of India, BJP, secured fewer seats than expected.

Recently, the Indian government has arrested at least 75 Kashmiri politicians and activists who allegedly tried to invoke political unrest in the region. According to an article in Al Jazeera, the latest detentions are from Jamat-e-Islami group, whose leaders claim that they have not accepted the decision PM Modi made for the region.

Although Indian central government has reclaimed its authority over India administered Kashmir since last year, Kashmiri politicians have repeatedly denied the decision.
