UN Chief speaks for peaceful elections in Niger

Kathmandu, December 27. UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, called for a fair and secure legislative and presidential election in Niger, a spokesman said on Saturday.
According to a statement released by speaker Stephane Dujarric, recalling the peaceful conduction of the local elections on 13 December, the Secretary-General demanded for the elections to be conducted in an inclusive, peaceful and secure way and requesting all national stakeholders to ensure the same.
Guterres affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting the country’s efforts to foster democracy and sustainable growth, the statement said.
