US President Trump selects Vijay Shanker, an Indian-American, as Associate Judge

Kathmandu, January 4. United States(US) president Donald Trump has selected Vijay Shanker, an Indian-American, for the post of Associate Judge. He selected him for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Shanker will be replacing John R Fisher, who is now retired. According to a communique sent to the Senate by Trump, Shanker will hold onto the post for a period of 15 years.
Advocate Shanker was practicing in Washington DC before joining the Department of Justice in 2012. He is currently the Senior Litigation Counsel in the Department of Justice, Criminal Division and also the Deputy Chief of the Appellate Section.
The decision must be approved by the Senate to get implemented.
