Indonesian airliner carrying 62 people crashes into the sea

Kathmandu. A Boeing 737-500 passenger plane carrying 56 passengers along with 2 pilots and 4 cabin crew members crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff on Saturday. 

Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 flight had taken off from the Soekarno-Hatta international airport in Jakarta at around 1:56 pm local time. 

According to flight radar reports, the plane lost more than 10,000 feet of altitude in less than a minute before crashing into the sea at around 2:40 pm (0740 GMT).

The Trisula coast guard ship reported that Human body parts and debris of the plane were found around Lancang Island where the plane lost contact with ATC. 

Indonesia’s transport ministry has ordered an investigation into the matter.
