Sri Lanka Prime Minister resigns as protests take violent turn

Kathmandu, May 9. Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned after increased protests over the country’s economic crisis. After weeks of protests from public demanding resignation of Rajapaksa, he said in his statement he was resigning to form an interim unity government. Further, his resignation comes after his party supporters marched towards a protest site
