Kathmandu, June 12. China has accused United States of “hijacking” support of states in the Asia Pacific and turning them against Beijing.

China’s Defense Minister Gen. Wei Fenghe has called against U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his claim that China is interfering in region around Taiwan.

He said, “No country should impose its will on others or bully others under the guise of multilateralism. The strategy is an attempt to build an exclusive small group in the name of a free and open Indo-Pacific to hijack countries in our region and target one specific country — it is a strategy to create conflict and confrontation to contain and encircle others.”

Earlier last year, US accused China of testing a hypersonic missile. Wei answered the question of testing missiles on Sunday replying as many other countries were developing weapons, China was doing the same.

Further, Wei accused US of meddling in affairs of their region and not abiding by the ‘one-China policy’.

Wei and Austin met on Saturday and discussions included Taiwan as a major issue. Moreover, Wei met Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles on Sunday.
