A new disease originating from the brucella bacteria is found to be spreading in China. A leak from a pharmaceutical company is said to have started the spread. According to officials from Lanzhou, a city in north China, the disease has been confirmed in 3,245 people with probabilities of more numbers adding up in the coming days. The disease named Brucellosis is said to spread from cows, goats and pigs.

Symptoms of this disease include loss of appetite, headache, muscle pain, fever and fatigue. So far, 21,847 people have been tested out of which 3,245 are affected. According to a report from The Independent, no deaths have been reported so far. The disease spread due to exhaust fumes that was contaminated from a factory that produces vaccines for  animals.

The harmful gas is said to be spread between the end of July 2019 to August 2019. The company named ‘Zhongmu Lanzhou’ is said to have been using expired chemicals because of which all the bacteria did not die off and some spread in the air. An additional 1,401 people in Lanzhou are suspected to have been affected with the disease and it may spread further as warned by the city’s health department.

According to Xinhua, 181 people from a veterinary research company were said to be affected from this disease in December 2019, but recent outbreaks of large numbers were not made public up until now. The public hospitals in China are said to provide tests for the disease free of cost.
