Nepalese recruitment in Indian Air Force: Intense social media reaction
Kathmandu.
The matter of India recruiting Nepalese citizens in the Indian Air Force has been received with public scrutiny in Nepal. DC Nepal had previously posted about thousands of Nepalese being recruited by the Indian Army and its registration process that was underway.
Shobha Shrestha writes on Facebook, “Money is important and patriotism disappears before it. Failure to increase recruitment in the Nepal Army is a weakness of Nepal. International politics of taking Nepal’s strong youth abroad started from the time of Prithvi Narayan Shah. Nepalese were known to have won countless battles and were received by foreigners with respect. That was to stop war and conflict which continues to this day but, perhaps they are not respected as much today.” Many more people have utilized the social platform to share their own point of view regarding the subject.
The Indian Air Force has now opened recruitment for three different posts which is currently ongoing. Airmen’s Group X, Group Y and Group Y non-technical trades are being recruited in Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan. Unmarried Indian and Nepali citizens are said to be eligible for all these posts.
Due to the recent territorial dispute between India and Nepal, there were several calls to stop recruiting Gorkhalis in the Indian Army. Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali had responded that the justification for recruiting Gorkhalis in the Indian Army had already been clarified. Biplav-led Maoists had also previously asked India not to involve Nepalese in the war with China.
