KATHMANDU — Veteran journalist Suman Sapkota, who has been actively working in the media sector for more than a decade and a half, has been honored in Kathmandu. Sapkota was felicitated jointly by the legendary folk singer (Lok Swar Samrat) Raju Pariyar and Chandra Mani Gautam, President of National Folk Broadcasters Nepal.

The honoring ceremony took place during a program chaired by Eman Khanal, operator of Mahak Recording Studio, where Raju Pariyar attended as the chief guest. On the same occasion, a new folk song titled ‘Mugling Bazarma’, sung by singer and presenter Bishu Gurung alongside popular vocalist Melina Rai, was officially released.

Journalist Sapkota has previously received recognition from various national and international organizations. At the 3rd Himalayan International Award 2023 (2079 BS), he was presented with the ‘Music, Art, and Journalism Honor 2023’ by then Foreign Minister NP Saud with a shawl, garland, and certificate of appreciation.

Similarly, Sapkota was conferred with the ‘Journalism Honor’ at the 4th Genius Music Award 2023 held at the Cultural Corporation (Rastriya Nachghar) in Jamal, Kathmandu. Internationally, he was awarded the prestigious ‘Neel Krishna Jashoda Youth Journalism Top Honor 2024 (2080 BS)’ by the Northern California-based Neel Krishna Jashoda Sitaula Foundation in the United States.

Having previously worked with major media houses including Avenuez Television, Gorkha FM, Radio Deshantar, Deshantar.com, Sutra News, and OS Nepal, Sapkota has been actively covering parliamentary affairs and legislative reporting for the past decade.
