Japan witnessed highest unemployment rate in August since three years
Tokyo. Japan witnessed the highest rate of unemployment in three years due to the global pandemic. The Japanese government on Friday revealed through their official statistics that the unemployment rate has reached 3%.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, they mentioned that it is the second month of continuous increase in unemployment rates. In the month of July, the unemployment rate stood at 2.9%. The department of Statistics went on to further reveal that the unemployment rate currently is 3.1% more than that it was in 2017. Currently, there are around 2.6 million people unemployed in Japan.
According to its Ministry of Labor, this is the eighth month that Japan has been witnessing increasing unemployment rates. After January 2014, this is the first time that Japan has witnessed such a spike in the unemployment rate.
