Trade resumes at the northern border: Chinese goods enter Nepal via Tatopani
Kathmandu. The Tatopani dry port has resumed operations after 80 days. The port had been dormant since second week of July as the road transport was disrupted due to landslides.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sindhupalchok Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed today about the Chinese goods having entered Nepal via the Tatopani customs point. Talking to DCNepal he said, “Today (Sunday) cargo containers have reached the Nepali check point after clearing the Chinese point. Tomorrow, they will pass the Nepali check point too.”
In her tweet on Sunday evening, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has expressed her joy on the resumption of trade through the Tatopani customs point. She noted that it had been possible because of the joint efforts from both China and Nepal side.
Ambassador Yanqui stated that the Rasuwa border point will also reopen in a short time.
I’m glad to hear that Zhangmu(Tatopani) Port has been finally reopened today with joint efforts of China&Nepal! Both Zhangmu(Tatopani) and Jilong(Rasuwa) Ports will work to help ensure the supply of daily necessities in Nepal. May my Nepali friends have a happy Dashain Festival! pic.twitter.com/tSzpG2MSf4
